Golf Top Plays: Wyndham Championship

Below, you will find the players we consider the best for the slate. These do NOT account for ownership, but they do account for salary. In other words, Jon Rahm could be our No. 1 play in the high range… but he could also be a bad tournament play because he projects for 60% ownership in an extreme example.

This article is for cash games (contests in which roughly 50% of the field gets paid out, such as a head-to-head or double-up). For tournaments, our focus should be more on the projected ownership and projected ceiling columns in our projections table.

With that said, these are our Top Plays considering the following factors: median projection, lower volatility, upside, and value. They are listed in descending order by price. At the bottom, you’ll find suggested rankings by site once salary is accounted for.

HIGH-PRICED

Cameron Young ($10,400 DK, $12,800 FD) – Sedgefield isn’t exactly set up to highlight Young’s best attributes as a golfer, but that didn’t stop him from being crowned champion last year, and he’s now gained 2.65 strokes above expectation over eight rounds at the Wyndham Championship. Though there is an added importance on Driving Accuracy, where Young ranks just 54th in this field over the last 12 months, he’s simply the best golfer teeing it up this week, ranking first during that same time frame in Data Golf’s True Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, second Off-the-Tee, fifth in Approach, 15th Around-the-Green, and 20th in Putting. While his Driving Distance (11th) advantage will be mitigated, he’s good enough elsewhere to still separate from his cheaper peers.
