Wednesday night’s rematch of Super Bowl 60 sets up prohibitively for 2025 MVP runner-up Drake Maye on the road against a Seattle defense that returns nine of 11 starters after last year yielding the NFL’s ninth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks and a league-low 6.0 yards per pass attempt while racking up the NFL’s seventh-most sacks (47). This will be the first meaningful game Maye has ever played with new top-two WRs A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs. I’m exploring streamer QBs like Baker Mayfield (@ CIN) and Tyler Shough (@ DET) over Maye this week. … Per New England beat writer consensus, Rhamondre Stevenson convincingly held off TreVeyon Henderson for lead-back duties throughout camp. Against the Seahawks, I’m projecting 15 touches for Stevenson and seven for Henderson, the latter of whose playing time could be lessened due to TreVeyon’s pass-protection shortcomings against Mike Macdonald’s complex pressure schemes. Their usage is likely to be inefficient, however; Seattle’s 2025 defense allowed a league-low 3.7 yards per carry and the NFC’s fewest fantasy points to running backs.
A.J. Brown, 29, showed some signs of decline in Philly last season but drew rave reviews at Patriots training camp, and Maye is easily the best passer of Brown’s NFL career (Jalen Hurts, Ryan Tannehill, Marcus Mariota). In fantasy, Brown is a bet-on-talent play in this imposing draw; last year’s Seahawks permitted the NFL’s second-fewest fantasy WR points, keyed by Devon Witherspoon, who earned PFF’s No. 1 cornerback grade among 114 qualifiers. … With Brown at X, Romeo Doubs profiles as New England’s Z receiver with DeMario Douglas manning the slot. Since Patriots OC Josh McDaniels favors wideout committees, Mack Hollins and Kyle Williams figure to sporadically rotate in. Looking ahead, I’ll have sleeper interest in Doubs against softer pass defenses. … Third-round rookie Eli Raridon generated August plaudits, but Hunter Henry will open the season as an every-down tight end. Henry appeared on 77% of New England’s 2025 offensive snaps, then landed a two-year, $16 million extension in August. Macdonald’s defense funnels targets to the middle of the field, where Henry runs his routes. He’s a fringe TE1/2 option.
