Passing Game Overview
Trevor Lawrence made a massive sophomore leap transitioning from the embarrassing Urban Meyer era to the tutelage of QB whisperer Doug Pederson, who previously brought the best out of Alex Smith in Kansas City and Carson Wentz and Nick Foles in Philadelphia. Finishing as fantasy’s QB7, Lawrence was No. 10 among qualified quarterbacks in passer rating (95.2) and No. 3 in 20-plus-yard completions (55) despite ranking 18th in percentage of 20-plus-yard attempts. Jacksonville’s downfield passing game is virtually certain to expand with the addition of separation specialist Calvin Ridley after possession types Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram ranked 1-2-3 on last year’s team in targets. With obvious room for continued growth, I’m ranking Lawrence as a locked-in top-10 fantasy passer for 2023.
