Indianapolis @ Carolina
Team Totals: Colts 23.5, Panthers 21
The Colts’ starter in four games to date, Gardner Minshew’s fantasy finishes in those contests are QB23 (@ BAL), QB15 (@ JAX), QB3 (vs. CLE), and QB16 (vs. NO). Minshew’s Week 7 spike was outlier-y in that he rushed for two TDs; Minshew had previously run for two touchdowns in his entire career. Only four defenses have yielded fewer fantasy QB points than the Panthers. … Jonathan Taylor destroyed the Saints for 11/94/0 (8.5 YPC) rushing in the first half of Week 8’s defeat yet touched the ball twice the rest of the way. Zack Moss finished the game with 12 touches to Taylor’s 13. Afterward, HC Shane Steichen attributed the awkward usage distribution to the “flow of the game”. Taylor and Moss’ Week 9 statistical projections belong near even based on to-date production and coachspeak. The Panthers’ allowance of the NFL’s second-most fantasy points to running backs — including 5.1 yards per carry and 13 all-purpose TDs in seven games — locks in Taylor as an upside RB2 start here. Moss remains confidently flex playable.
Minshew’s 2023 target distribution: Michael Pittman 56; Josh Downs 43; Alec Pierce 24; Moss 17; Taylor 13; Kylen Granson 12. … Pittman has caught at least eight balls in five of eight games this year.
