Preseason DFS is a different beast. Unlike the regular season, our main job is to identify players who will get the most playing time. Of course, that’s easier said than done. Our team spends an unhealthy amount of time researching to come up with the Depth Chart Notes, Top Plays (below), and Live Show. Note that the Live Show will begin at 4:00 p.m. ET tonight.

For Showdown slates, please be sure to consult Cody Main’s article.

Quarterback

TIER 1

Malik Willis, Tennessee – With Ryan Tannehill and Will Levis ruled out, Willis is the only quarterback we know for certain will play three full quarters, let alone the entire game. He’s received positive reports throughout camp, seems to have already beaten out Levis for the backup job, doesn’t eat banana peels, and has immense rushing upside.

TIER 2

Zach Wilson, Jets – We know the Jets will only be playing two quarterbacks this week after cutting Chris Streveler, and reports have Wilson playing “a ton” with Tim Boyle relegated to mop-up duty. A lock for at least a half of football with upside to play the whole game, Wilson’s playing-time projection is exceeded only by Willis on this slate.

TIER 3

Drew Lock, Seattle – We’re expecting a similar QB rotation in Seattle to what we saw in Week 1, when Lock took 28 of the team’s 32 dropbacks with Holton Ahlers coming in for garbage time. The former Missouri Tiger will get a chance to sling it to Jaxon Smith-Njigba early and preseason standout Jake Bobo and a rotating cast of WRs and TEs late.

Will Grier, Dallas – Grier is one of the last QBs on the slate with the upside for 40 snaps or more with the Cowboys again expected to roll with just two QBs again. Grier is a competent enough passer to put up 200 yards and two TDs if he’s on the field that much, just like he did last week.
