With the Florida swing wrapped up, the PGA Tour heads to Houston, Texas, for the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course. While we will once again have a strong field on the PGA Tour, it looks unlike most of the fields we have seen in recent weeks. Rather than many top-25 players, the Houston Open will only feature four of the world’s top 25, but it will also have the world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in attendance. It should have a different feel than previous weeks and make for a fun event.
The Course:
Memorial Park is set to host the Houston Open for the sixth consecutive season on the PGA Tour. A 7,475-yard, par 70 course with five par 3s, three par 5s, and 10 par 4s, it will feature poa overseed greens and a rye overseed on tees, rough, and fairways.
Coming off the Florida swing, Memorial Park offers a wildly different test of golf than what players have become accustomed to over the last several weeks. Rather than the 20-yard-wide fairways at the Valspar, players will be playing toward generous 35-yard-wide fairways with little penalty for missing them on most holes. Since 2020, Memorial Park has had the second-lowest missed-fairway penalty across the entire PGA Tour. With the “rough” at only 1.25 inches, it effectively plays more like a first cut.
