The FedEx Cup fall stays in Mexico this week for the World Wide Technology Championship at El Cardonal at Diamante in Los Cabos, the fourth year the event has been played here since it moved from Mayakoba in 2023. It is a 120-man field playing for a $6 million purse, and Ryan Gerard, 23rd in the world, is the only member of the top 25 in attendance. Ben Griffin defends after setting the tournament record at -29 last year.
The Course:
El Cardonal was Tiger Woods’ first course design, opened in 2014 and routed through sand dunes and dry desert arroyos on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas. It plays as a par 72 at 7,452 yards, the same yardage as the last three years, with paspalum from tee to green. There are four par 5s, four par 3s, and 10 par 4s, and six of those par 4s measure 462 yards or longer.
