With four golfers $10,000 and higher finishing inside the top 10, along with Bryson DeChambeau joining the group at $9,900, it was a week where the values made the difference in GPPs. The winning Millionaire Maker lineup had three golfers in the low $7K range, while the Mega Millionaire lineup had three golfers $6,500 and lower. Rory McIlroy won The Masters in his own fashion, which meant mixing in four double bogeys and three eagles to really separate himself in DraftKings scoring. He was 19.5 points clear of runner-up Justin Rose and 29.5 points clear of third-place Patrick Reed, who were the only two golfers to be within 39 points of him! When you have that type of scoring, as well as ownership for Rose, many of the best lineups didn’t even need to be optimal to take down GPPs. That is definitely something I will take forward in major championships, as we often worry about the upside of some of the lower-priced players. The Masters proved that loading up on the value range can pay off immensely.

There was good and bad in our selections from last week, with Patrick Reed leading our charge. Now, the gross thing is how steamed his ownership became, with him being the eighth-highest-owned golfer on the slate, even beating out the highly-touted Sergio Garcia at the same price. But what was amazing is Vintage Reed showed up at Augusta again, finishing solo third, which arguably could have been even better had he not three-putted the 13th hole on Sunday afternoon. That would have snuck him into the playoff had he made the first three-footer, and boy that would’ve brought the dramatics. The other two that made the weekend delivered in their own ways. Byeong Hun An was quite steady the entirety of the tournament, playing his way back inside the cut line Friday and then going low early Saturday to add another top-25 result to his major record. Davis Thompson, on the other hand, was as volatile as they come, having seven birdies on Friday despite shooting over par. He was sitting inside the top 20 too before Sunday’s 79 — but not bad for his Masters debut.
