It took all the way until June, but we finally had a slate where Scottie Scheffler was all over the winning GPP lineups without winning the golf tournament, as value plays flooded the top of the board at the Memorial. J.T. Poston did his projection proud, out-dueling Ryan Gerard in a playoff with Wyndham Clark and Kristoffer Reitan being the next two DraftKings scorers on the slate. So, even with Scheffler only being 17th out of 72 golfers in DK points, it was more than enough to get it done if you nailed the low end. That now brings us to two Signature Events in a row with a long shot getting it done, and it’s a great reminder of how unique the sport can be, especially with how long the season is. The field was on it, though, as Scheffler steamed across the board, so a continued focus remains on trying not to be too overconfident in spots where the field is jamming.

The unfortunate part about all of the values smashing was that they didn’t come from the Value Report, so it ended up being a poor runout despite all five making it to the weekend. Yes, it is a smaller cut in Signature Events, but we continue to see lower 6/6 rates than you’d expect, so I’ll take the small win with that result. The only real performance to write home about was from Eric Cole, who kept up the white-hot pace and looked like he had a shot to take command of the golf tournament on Friday before falling back to the pace. Brandt Snedeker was actually the next top scorer of the crew, landing inside the top 30 on the week for DraftKings points, which is impressive, given his age. Nick Taylor was about as sharp as a toothpick with how popular he flipped at, and unfortunately, you could see that steam coming a mile away by Wednesday night, so his performance was rightfully rejoiced by the faders. Then, Bud Cauley’s week was full of pars, while Michael Kim’s was full of bogeys, so I’m happy to turn the page.
The RBC Canadian Open has been an event that has brought the juice over the past five years or so, as fans come out for their home country and continue to get rewarded with decent fields, given it’s a lead-in to a major. We also have fresh U.S. Open qualifiers from the Longest Day in golf, which excites me, as most of the field won’t pay attention to the 36-hole qualifiers that are mini-PGA Tour tournaments with some of the field strengths. Add that to the mix with a course that can be ripped up with ball striking, and I’m quite excited, especially when pricing will lead many into a balanced build. So, it’s time to let it rip one more time before the U.S. Open!
