With all due respect to preseason legend Cody Main, professional football is finally back. With a game that counts just one day away, let’s explore some value options while taking a long-view look at several awards markets.
Value Options
MVP: Trevor Lawrence (+15000 to +1800 Caesars)
Lawrence is an ascending young quarterback who’s already knocking on the door of that elite tier. He has two things going for him in the MVP race. The first is the addition of Calvin Ridley raises the ceiling of this offense. The second is Jacksonville plays six games against AFC South opponents. That gives Lawrence a significant advantage over the many premium AFC quarterbacks on contending teams. Lawrence could conceivably lead an elite offense, for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Offensive Player of the Year: Keenan Allen (+8000 to +20000 FanDuel)
Allen’s path to OPOY contention is narrow, but he’s one of the best route runners in football who could, conceivably, challenge for the league’s reception lead. Early reports indicate that Allen will benefit from new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore’s system. Allen is a longshot for a reason, but he should not be available at 200-1 odds. If you’re looking to take a home-run swing in awards markets, Allen is a solid bet.
Offensive Rookie of the Year: Jahmyr Gibbs (+750 to +1000 DraftKings, Caesars)
