Passing Game Outlook
60-year-old Todd Monken has orchestrated efficient offenses before, most recently as the Ravens’ offensive coordinator, but the Baker Mayfield-led Browns and Jameis Winston-led Buccaneers also were fantasy-friendly units. He’ll have his work cut out for him in his first go-around as a head coach given the talent (or lack thereof) in Cleveland, and it starts under center with Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders competing for QB1 duties.
Watson tore his right Achilles (the leg he pushes off of to throw) in 2024, then re-tore the same Achilles while rehabbing. He averaged 5.3 yards per attempt in 2024 and 6.0 YPA throughout his entire Browns tenure between 2022-24. He turns 31 years old in September. Sanders, meanwhile, averaged 6.6 yards per attempt as a rookie, threw seven touchdowns to 10 interceptions, and took a sack on 9.8% of dropbacks. Both are disastrous options, and it seems unlikely whoever starts Week 1 ends up making it through the entire season.
