As our good friends at Underdog like to say, “Scroll the eff down.”
Since there are only two rounds in the Double Dribble this year, you’re going to have a bunch of dupes in Round 2. It’s pretty simple: If a player that you drafted in the eighth round crushes, he’s probably going to have a high advance rate. He didn’t only help you finish in the top two in your pod. So what’s going to differentiate you from the field in the finals? Uniqueness. That’s where these guys come in. We’re going to have a rolling list of players who are either going super late or not being drafted at all. Guys who can help you separate if things break right. Remember, there are 6,250 teams in the finals, so yeah, you’re gonna need some luck to go your way. You might as well have some of these players on your teams just in case.
Payton Pritchard – Contingency play x 4. There was some overlap, but last season he averaged 28.98 fantasy points per game without Jaylen Brown, 29.7 without Jrue Holiday, 33.01 without Derrick White, and 37.8 without Jayson Tatum. Pritchard averaged 28.5 minutes over the final 20 games once homecourt was essentially wrapped up. The Celtics sent three of their starting five to the Olympics after playing into June and winning the NBA Finals. They have to ease up on the guys, right? Oh yeah, Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) is also going to be out until mid-December or so. The team has very little depth as is.
