Updated 7:30 pm ET
UPDATE 7:30 pm ET: Kristaps Porzingis (knee) will play, as expected. He should have a shot at minutes in the 30s, and he’s a low-key winner of the Patrick Beverley injury because some of the bigger bodies may have to be on Luka Doncic. Trey Burke (ankle) is also a go.
UPDATE 7:15 pm ET: Patrick Beverley (calf) will not play on Wednesday. Reggie Jackson should be in the starting lineup with minutes in the 20s, but coach Doc Rivers has a lot of options to cut down on his opportunity with possibly more of the core guys, Landry Shamet or even Rodney McGruder.
UPDATE 6:05 pm ET: It’s official. Matisse Thybulle is starting for Al Horford with Shake Milton, Josh Richardson, Tobias Harris and Joel Embiid rounding out the first unit. This is what we expected all day, so no changes here.
UPDATE 3:00 pm ET: Kristaps Porzingis (knee) is now probable for his knee irritation. He should see minutes in the 30s and gets a pretty good matchup if the Clippers sell out on stopping Luka Doncic.
UPDATE 2:05 pm ET: Patrick Beverley (calf) is a late addition to the injury report with a questionable tag. A downgrade is always something to consider, and this is the same left calf that kept him out during most of the seeding action. The Clippers have seen multiple players have aggravations to muscle strains, so it wouldn’t be a total shock if he sits. If so, Landry Shamet, Lou Williams and maybe Reggie Jackson would benefit.
UPDATE 1:05 pm ET: Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot is starting over Rodions Kurucs, which isn’t too big of a surprise. The Nets need shooting out there to space for LeVert, so TLC should get shots. He’s still only a fringe play.
UPDATE 1:00 pm ET: We got some details on Kristaps Porzingis (knee) being questionable. He still hopes to play, but he is dealing with irritation in his knee and had knee soreness earlier this year. He should still be good to go, but playing in the last game of the day makes him a tad risky.
We have very little to monitor today. The injury news for today’s slate came on Tuesday with the announcement of Gordon Hayward (ankle) set to miss four weeks. For DFS purposes, there’s not much to this from the Celtics side because we know coach Brad Stevens will just elevate Marcus Smart with his starters, and get heavy minutes. Semi Ojeleye and Grant Williams could see a couple extra minutes, but it’s really tough to use them unless you’re banking on garbage time. It turns out, the interesting part of it is that the 76ers are more likely to start Matisse Thybulle over Al Horford now. The Horford lineups were a disaster in Game 1.
Brooklyn Nets vs. Toronto Raptors, 1:30 pm ET
Jamal Crawford (hamstring) is listed as out again, but could be back at some point. Don’t bet on it, though. Tyler Johnson was Caris LeVert’s backup with some overlap.
The Raptors have their usual injury report with no Oshae Brissett (knee) and no Patrick McCaw (knee). Both are out indefinitely. Terence Davis II should see a little more run after no time in the first half in Game 1.
Utah Jazz vs. Denver Nuggets, 4:00 pm ET
Mike Conley (personal) is still out for this one, but he is back in the bubble. The Jazz won’t have Ed Davis (knee) and Justin Wright-Foreman (NWT). Emmanuel Mudiay picked up the backup minutes behind Donovan Mitchell while Mitchell dominated on offense with his 57-point explosion in a loss.
Will Barton (knee) is now out indefinitely, so it sounds like he’s out for this series. Gary Harris (hip) remains out and no Vlatko Cancar (foot) either. Torrey Craig getting into foul trouble really opened up wing minutes for Jerami Grant, P.J. Dozier and Monte Morris.
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics, 6:30 pm ET
The 76ers won’t have Ben Simmons (knee) and Glenn Robinson III (hip) again. We’re expecting a change to the starting lineup with Matisse Thybulle starting over Al Horford.
Gordon Hayward (ankle) is expected to miss four weeks and may leave the bubble. Jaylen Brown (quad) is probable, but he should be fine after playing through it on Monday. Without Hayward, Marcus Smart will be elevated into the first unit and it’ll be a mixture of Grant Williams and Semi Ojeleye to fill out some forward minutes in the second unit. All of the starters are in play for the Celtics.
Dallas Mavericks vs. LA Clippers, 9:00 pm ET
Kristaps Porzingis (knee) is listed as questionable, but you would assume that the Mavericks have him out there. This is different from the bruised heel that kept him out for a game in the seeding games, and he was probable for the heel in the last one. It also looked like KP was at practice on Tuesday based on the social media photos, so he should be a full go. Trey Burke (ankle) is probable and should be fine, too.
The Clippers have no injuries on their injury report. Feels like a miracle.
