Thursday Night Football
Dallas @ Philadelphia
Team Totals: Eagles 27.5, Cowboys 20
At home as touchdown-plus favorites, the returning Super Bowl champions should wipe the floor with a Cowboys team that traded its far-and-away best player one week before Thursday night’s opener. Per ESPN’s Bill Barnwell, over the last four years Dallas fielded the NFL’s best defense with Micah Parsons on the field on an EPA-allowed basis. With Parsons off the field, the Cowboys’ defense was second worst during that stretch. This is a full-fledged eruption spot for Jalen Hurts. … The one veteran acquired by Dallas in the Parsons trade was declining 30-year-old (in early October) DT Kenny Clark, who got six days to acclimate to new DC Matt Eberflus’ scheme. Last year’s Cowboys defense hemorrhaged the NFL’s third-most yards per carry (4.8). Parsons, quietly, was one of the best run-stopping EDGEs in the league. Now is the time to bet heavily on Saquon Barkley, who has early-season fresh legs after handling 482 all-purpose touches in 2024. The Eagles’ O-Line should maul Dallas’ front. … A long shot sleeper on one-game DFS slates is sophomore Will Shipley, who could see extensive late-game run should the Eagles boat race the Cowboys.
