Week 5 was hyped up as one of the biggest CFB weeks of the season. It did not disappoint. I’m kind of glad that the U.S. Ryder Cup team put up such a pathetic performance that I didn’t even have to bother to watch on Saturday. LSU-Ole Miss, Alabama-Georgia, and Oregon-Penn State all came down to the last possession. The Ducks winning in OT at Happy Valley in a White Out atmosphere is probably going to be the most impressive win of the season.

Week 6 — you’re up!

Week 5 Recap

  • If you didn’t have Jeremiyah Love or Makai Lemon on the DraftKings main slate, you probably didn’t have a chance to sniff any kind of relevance in GPPs. Love and Notre Dame simply destroyed Arkansas and got poor Sam Pittman fired. Lemon didn’t do much in the first half. He exploded in the second half though, putting up 11/151/2 en route to 43 fantasy points. He was the highest scorer of the slate.
  • On the low-owned side, Emmanuel Henderson Jr. and Jalon Daniels combined for 83 fantasy points and only 10% ownership to set those stacks apart in tournaments. Henderson was uber efficient. He only had five catches but took two of them for long touchdowns and racked up 214 receiving yards. Daniels threw for 445 yards and four touchdowns.
  • The success through the air for Kansas meant that 50%-owned Leshon Williams could only muster 6.4 fantasy points. He was out there for 91% of the snaps for the Jayhawks. The volume and snaps were there, but variance just got the best of him. Mario Craver also put up a dud at 44% ownership, only managing 7.4 fantasy points.
  • When trimming down my player pool on Saturday morning, I had about 15 QBs in it once I went through all the teams. I ended up cutting Brendan Sorsby and Daniels, which proved to be a big mistake on the slate. Overall, I was pretty light on the Cincinnati-Kansas game, which had multiple pieces from both sides go off. That’s just how it goes sometimes.

Week 6 Preview

  • Week 6 is going to hit harder than one of Discord user BeckBeck18’s hangovers. The 12-gamer on DraftKings doesn’t have that many elite matchups. There are still some great spots to attack on it.
  • Despite my optimism, I won’t argue that QB leaves a little bit to be desired on this slate. Brendan Sorsby and Ty Simpson are going to be the two highest-owned QBs by a pretty wide margin. That means that we should be able to get some lower-owned QBs with just as much upside as the chalky options.
  • On the other hand, the RB position this week is just loaded with good options in the top tier. Some of the worst rush defenses in the country are on the slate.
  • WR as always is pretty wide open after the two Louisville pass catchers, Caullin Lacy and Chris Bell. There are a ton of options below $4,500 who are enticing and won’t carry much ownership.
