Still missing dynamic playmakers Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) and D’Andre Swift (shoulder/ankle) on the road in Foxboro, Jared Goff is a fringe QB1/2 option in what sets up as a run-heavy affair on both sides. … Jamaal Williams remains live to lead the NFL in rushing TDs; he’s presently in first place, third in red-zone rushing attempts (15), and first in carries inside the five (8). The Patriots have yet to allow a rushing touchdown but are yielding a crisp 4.5 yards per carry to enemy running backs. It is worth noting that Williams only out-snapped Craig Reynolds 36 to 28 in Week 4’s loss to Seattle, although Williams out-touched Reynolds 20 to 3. Justin Jackson played just six snaps. Williams is a borderline RB1 play here.
T.J. Hockenson turned in a career day in St. Brown and Swift’s Week 4 absence and should continue to carry Detroit’s passing game against a Patriots defense that’s surrendered the NFL’s fifth most fantasy points to tight ends, including a league-high five TDs to Hock’s position. … The Lions’ likeliest Week 5 three-receiver set seems to be D.J. Chark and Josh Reynolds outside with Tom Kennedy in the slot. Kalif Raymond is the probable No. 4. The health of Chark’s ankle isn’t assured, while Kennedy and Raymond could wind up in a slot-receiver timeshare. With 90-plus yards and/or a touchdown in three straight games, I like Reynolds as a WR3/flex play but, beyond Hockenson, won’t be betting on anyone else.
