Chicago @ N.Y. Giants
Team Totals: Giants 21, Bears 18.5
Bears-Giants profiles as an ugly, likely low-scoring affair between teams that rank 18th (NYG) and 20th (CHI) in points. New York’s D/ST is playable against Justin Fields, who through 13 career starts has taken a whopping 44 sacks and committed 18 turnovers. Chicago’s new coaching staff has shown next to no faith in Fields as a passer; 31 quarterbacks across the NFL have more attempts than Fields’ 45. … David Montgomery (knee/ankle) seems likely to miss, which would vault Khalil Herbert into legitimate RB1 contention. The Bears are extremely committed to the run, while Herbert is on absolute fire, averaging 7.3 yards on 33 carries with three TDs. Only the Lions and Texans have surrendered more fantasy points to running backs than the G-Men. … Understandable considering Fields’ struggles, Bears OC Luke Getsy’s utter refusal to dial up pass plays continues to kill Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet’s chances of making any kind of fantasy impact. It doesn’t help that the Giants’ underrated pass defense has surrendered the league’s fifth-fewest yards to wide receivers (403) and seventh-fewest fantasy points to tight ends.
