Pittsburgh @ New England
Team Totals: Patriots 23, Steelers 21.5
Aaron Rodgers predictably crashed back to Earth in Week 2’s loss to Seattle after Week 1’s four-TD bombardment of the Jets, but I think he can return to competency here. Facing Tua Tagovailoa and Geno Smith in the opening weeks, HC Mike Vrabel’s Patriots got skewered for the NFL’s third-highest completion rate (76%) and a league-high 10.3 yards per pass attempt. I think this game has sneaky shootout potential. … Rodgers publicly lobbied for OC Arthur Smith to dial up more touches for Jaylen Warren this week, while third-round disappointment Kaleb Johnson got yanked off special teams following Week 2’s kickoff-return blunder, resulting in a Seahawks touchdown. I wonder if Johnson could be a healthy scratch at Foxboro. In Weeks 1-2, the Patriots coughed up the NFL’s fourth-most catches (13) and fourth-most receiving yards (112) to running backs. Warren ranks fourth among RBs in receiving yards (108) and has out-touched No. 2 RB Kenneth Gainwell 31 to 18.
